Roswell

Good Memories

It just takes four chords of “Here With Me” to think about Roswell…

Have you already seen the Ultimate Roswell Season 1 – Liz and Max Mix?

The music brings back lots of memories and you’ll surely start a new Roswell-DVD-Marathon at the next opportunity… Allison picked some great songs from the show and next Sunday you can take a look at another well picked playlist.

There’s just something special about music and there’s definitely something special about this show.

Allison was so nice to tell us more about the reason the idea got started.
Please read on and make sure to leave feedback!

History and memories are things that shouldn’t be forgotten, granted you should also not dwell in the past, but sometimes it is good to remember. One thing this little project has taught me is that I remembered things that I hadn’t thought of in a very long time. Happy things, the little things in life, things that may have made you happy at the time, but were fleeting and easily replaced for new experiences. Think of what you were doing the first time you saw Roswell, it was a different era back then, Y2K was on every one’s mind and Grunge was in full swing. There was only one “Alternative” music and iTunes hadn’t even been invented. For my sister it brought back memories of boys and high school days. For my mother it was grading papers in a tiny apartment before they got their house. For me it was very long hours at work preparing for the year 2000. Roswell was in many ways my escape after a terribly long week at work. It was nice to get wrapped up in a story that made your problems seem so insignificant.

If you are like me, you are a longtime Roswell fan even though it’s been a good decade since it first aired. It is still my all time favorite show, and even now after 10 years with changed music I find myself wanting to watch the entire series over again. So what caused this nostalgia? Well recently my parents came to visit, and after all the outdoor fun we were hanging around relaxing and movies just were not interesting. My mom asked if we could see Roswell since she had never seen it. We assured her she watched the entire series (while she was grading the papers in the tiny apartment), but she couldn’t remember it so we put it in. Needless to say in the week or so they were here, we watched all of Season 1 and most of Season 2. It just sucked us all right in again and we couldn’t get enough of it.

There were some parts that were different because of the music changes, but the characters and the story were the same, and reminded me so much of why I fell in love with it in the first place. It is a timeless story, but the character relationships are what kept us coming back. You always had to know what was going to happen next, what new obstacle they had to overcome, or who was going to hunt them in two episodes because of something that had happened in the episode three weeks earlier. The music and feel of the scenes enhanced it, but it is the characters themselves that we fell in love with. Whether you are a Max and Liz fan, or a Michael and Maria fan, or even an Isabel and Colin or Jesse fan, the series had something for everyone.

So if you haven’t watched it in a while, I urge you to stick in the pilot and see how fast you watch the whole thing. If you make it to the end I almost guarantee you will want to start it over again because you just don’t want it to end. In my opinion it was that good.

I’m sure there will be people that will disagree, but that’s what is so great about opinions, there is no wrong answer. I hope you like the mixes, and I hope you enjoy this wonderful site Lena has kept up.

Hopefully this play list will bring back happy memories that were long forgotten for you as well. Thanks Roswell fans for reading!
