Category: Max/Liz
Rating: PG
Authors Note: Pure foof, but I loved the cool little videoclip. The song is Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive.
Liz sat by her computer, miserably checking her email. She came across a file sent to her from Alex – containing a videoclip to download. Her curiosity piqued, she downloaded it. As she did, she read the message Alex had written along the bottom -

‘To Liz – thought you might enjoy this, you haven’t smiled much lately? Does Maria have an email address? I seem to have lost it - :) Alex’

The video finished downloading. Liz hit play, and a cartoon alien with one eye appeared on the screen, wearing a teeshirt with a smiley face, also with only one eye. It was siting on a chair, mircophone to mouth. Liz smiled, and the song began

‘First I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights, just thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to get along’

The little alien began to dance, and Liz couldn’t help singing along.

‘And so you’re back, from outer space’

Funny you should say “outer space”

‘I just walked in to find you hear with that damn look upon your face.’

What Maria had dubbed the ‘I-wanna-jump-your-bones’ look.

‘I should have changed the locks
I should have made you leave your key
If I’d known for just one second you’d be back to bother me!’

Max always came back. For someone who wanted to fufill destiny, he hung around the Crashdown Café wayyyyy too much.

‘Oh no, no more!
Walk out the door!
Just turn around now
Coz you’re not welcome anymore
Weren’t you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbyes
So I crumble’

Yes, she’d crumbled

‘So I lay down and die
Oh no Not I!
I will survive –‘

The disco ball above the alien fell on its head, squashing it. Liz laughed. Bye bye alien. Maybe she didn’t need her alien anymore.

“I will survive,” she said softly. She smiled, and said it again. “I will survive!” she said louder. “I WILL SURVIVE!” she yelled. Joyfully sending the videoclip to Max, she yelled it again as she logged off her PC, shut it down, put her uniform on and headed down to the Crashdown to start her shift. Through the doors, she could see Max sitting at a booth by himself.

“I will survive,” she whispered as she walked through the doors. Now if only that were true.

THE END
