The superslick, professional-quality design showcases well-written (and correctly spelled!) cast bios, message boards, a chat room, fan fiction, and an episode guide. The dish is updated daily, the spoilers are gleaned from shooting scripts, the links are well-described: It&#8217;s almost too perfect to be of this world&#8230; A<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 id=\"20000403_ab\">ALIEN BLAST Press Release: \u201cRoswell Fans Rally\u201d, April 3, 2000<\/h4>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cRoswell Fans Rally\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>LOS ANGELES &#8211; Fans of the WB teen, sci-fi drama, Roswell are joining forces to show their support for this unique Jason Katims Production. &#8220;We (the fans) have incorporated ourselves as ALIEN BLAST&#8221; says Kristi Bergman, co-founder of the fan movement.<\/p>\n<p>The movement started as a letter writing campaign, prompting all devoted fans to drop a note to the WB telling them how much they enjoy the show. Letters came pouring in and soon after, Tabasco bottles were also mailed. &#8220;Roswell is HOT! is another facet of our campaign. Bottomley<\/p>\n<p>Who wants to be a millionaire? Lance Bass of \u2018N Sync and Howie Dorough of the Backstreet Boys already have plenty of cash, thanks. But after selling millions of<br \/>\nrecords, both boy-band studs are going to make TV appearances. Bass will appear on the popular game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, while Howie will playan alien on the WB series Roswell.<\/p>\n<p>Lance couldn\u2019t increase his millions on the show, though, even if he tried. With tough questions like \u201cWhich one of these four people isn\u2019t in \u2018N Sync? Is it Abraham Lincoln\u2026\u201d we think he\u2019s a shoo-in.<\/p>\n<p>Other participants playing for charity will be music stars Queen Latifah and Vanessa L. Williams, actor David Duchovny, and comics Dana Carvey, Drew Carey, and Ray Romano. You can see if Lance is a brain when the shows air May 1 through to May 3.<\/p>\n<p>If he uses Howie Backstreet as his lifeline, then we\u2019ve got a real news story. But while the Backstreet Boy\u2019s chum A.J. tries his hand at being Johnny No Name, Howie is flexing his acting muscles. He appears on the season finale of troubled WB show Roswell. A spokesperson for the WB said Howie will have a cameo as an alien who visits the New Mexico town. With only one line, however, it\u2019s a bit of a stretch to call it a real acting role.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the size of the part, MTV is already reporting that this could lead to bigger things. The channel says Howie is negotiating to star in a feature film called Bloom. He is apparently up for the role of a bully out to spoil a young boy\u2019s bar mitzvah preparation. His first appearance as an actor was in 1989\u2019s Parenthood, as a kid in a classroom.<\/p>\n<p>Roswell producers are just hoping that somebody is watching. Although the show about alien kids with hormonal hang-ups seems like a Buffy with tentacles, fans are worried network executives are about to give the show the axe. Prompted by the fan site crashdown.com, they\u2019ve mailed thousands of Tabasco sauce bottles to producers.<\/p>\n<p>Why? It seems the alien kids have to quaff the yummy pepper sauce whenever they eat anything sweet. The New York Post reports that Roswell is indeed getting another chance. The show is moving to Monday night at 9 PM ET, right after 7th Heaven.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe final six episodes of the season are running in order beginning Monday, and fans of the show are going to go bonkers,\u201d said Roswell executive producer Kevin Brown. \u201cOne of the main characters will get shot, and we\u2019ll have a grittier, edgier sci-fi emphasis.\u201d Hmm, who wants to get their face sucked off?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 id=\"20000510\">The Record, Earth to WB, May 10, 2000<\/h4>\n<blockquote><p>Earth to WB<br \/>\nWednesday, May 10, 2000<\/p>\n<p>By VIRGINIA ROHAN<br \/>\nStaff Writer<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s T-minus-144-hours until the WB announces its fall schedule \u2014 along with the fate of its freshman aliens-among-us drama \u201cRoswell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But things are looking bright for the well-reviewed series, which devoted fans are determined to save.<\/p>\n<p>On an unseasonably warm afternoon last week in Manhattan, Brendan Fehr, who plays the extraterrestrial Michael Guerin on \u201cRoswell,\u201d was doing a WB-related promotional tour in Manhattan \u2014 a good sign, to be sure.<\/p>\n<p>And Fehr was confident about the prospects for renewal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI find out on May 14 \u2014 that\u2019s two days before they announce, because I\u2019ve been designated to fly out for the [advertiser upfront] show, so, I\u2019ll know two days in advance,\u201d Fehr says. \u201cBut all signs are pointing to \u2018Yeah, it will [come back].&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s also heartened by the \u201cRoswell is Hot\u201d campaign launched by supporters of the show, who have been writing in droves to WB executives. Despite uneven ratings, the show has garnered a devoted fan base and a number of good unofficial Web sites, one of the best of which is Roswell: Crashdown.<\/p>\n<p>The site features extensive episode synopses and reviews accompanied by photos, slide shows, spoilers and even transcripts. There are also biographies and large image galleries for the eight leading actors. Fan input is included with amateur drawings, fan fiction, polls, a very busy message board and a Java chat room. The links list is long and includes sites focusing on the real-life Roswell controversy as well as the show and cast. The site is kept up to date with plot twists and behind-the-scenes information. In fact, many of the nuggets and updates betray a sense of urgency born of industry speculation about the show\u2019s imminent demise.<\/p>\n<p>Roswell: Crashdown is a great resource for fans and makes a case for the show to newcomers. Remember: if you really want to save the show, it is totally possible. \u201cParty of Five\u201d was once in the same situation, and a flood of fan support to the network helped save the Salingers from cancellation. Apparently, and I find this hilarious, there\u2019s a movement afoot to send, of all things, bottles of Tabasco sauce to network executives to prove this show\u2019s popularity. The aliens like hot and spicy. Here\u2019s hoping WB bigwigs like it too.<\/p>\n<p>Also in the \u201cRoswell\u201d corner is former \u201cStar Trek: TNG\u201d star Jonathan Frakes. Ex-commander Riker executive produces and has had roles in the pilot and an episode when a sci-fi convention comes to town. I\u2019d be inclined to think that he carries some weight. Also, and this is totally funny, one of the denizens of an Internet message board, known only as Mr. Manager (he\u2019s the manager of \u201cRoswell\u201d co-star Brendan Fehr) has hinted that the show is doing OK with the bigwigs. My money is on \u201cRoswell.\u201d Then again, I thought \u201cHarsh Realm\u201d would be a hit. It lasted three episodes.<\/p>\n<p>Again. And as Darien Wilson, one of the co-creators, told me, all of them are strictly volunteers. The ad banners they get barely pay for the site&#8217;s dedicated servers, much less the six to ten hours per day that Wilson, a University of Colorado freshman, and some of his colleagues work on it.<\/p>\n<p>The effort shows: CrashDown is a true Roswell fan&#8217;s paradise. For starters, every single episode is represented by a long first-person summary. Plus, a whopping 100 to 260 screencaps from each show are featured alongside transcripts, slide shows, and memorable quotes.
