\nColin: Hello!
\nM: Hey!
\nC: Hey!
\nM: Hey Colin!
\nC: How\u2019s it goin?
\nM: Hey man, how are you?
\nC: Good, how are you guys doin?
\nM: You know what?
\nC: What?
\nM: You have the same name as Tom Hanks
\nC: Uh, yes, my first name is Colin
\nM: Well I mean the last name\u2026
\nC: Yes, I do
\nM: Any relation?
\nChris: Now don\u2019t tick him off Mark
\nC: A little\u2026
\nM: Oh, I\u2019m just being stupid
\nC: But you want to know what? I\u2019m not the only one
\nM: I\u2019m just being stupid Colin, I apologize
\nC: Oh, no, no, no\u2026don\u2019t worry about it.
\nCh: Are you so sick of hearing, \u201cOh my god, you\u2019re Tom Hanks\u2019 kid?\u201d
\nC: Uh\u2026you really want the truth?
\nCh: Yeah, I do want the truth
\nC: I\u2019m very, very sick of it
\nM: Dad\u2019s awesome
\nC: Well, yes, okay, here\u2019s the thing. He is awesome, I mean, hey, I\u2019m
\nnot going to argue with you there. But, uh, I\u2019m 22 years old, I\u2019ve been
\nliving on my own now for a couple years, it\u2019s not like he\u2019s making me my
\nbox lunches to go to work.
\nM: {laughing} Right
\nC: Some people are like totally lost on that fact
\nM: {still laughing} Are you still doing laundry at home dude?
\nC: No, I\u2019m not. I have my own laundry, my own washing machine, thank
\ngoodness. Yeah, some people think he\u2019s like helping me memorize my
\nlines before I go to bed at night. And I hate to disappoint people, but
\nthat\u2019s not the case.
\nM: My dad always went to work in the morning and came back in the
\nafternoon, and uh, we\u2019d have dinner together\u2026we\u2019d sit and watch tv,
\ndrink beer, fight, you know, beat each other up\u2026
\nCh: They were a weird family
\nM: But every night of the week\u2026you know\u2026your dad is gone off on
\nlocation, Europe some place for six months, you know, shooting a movie,
\nand it\u2019s tough to have a regular relationship with pops.
\nC: Well, you know, it is kind of trying\u2026it is kind of weird cause
\nsometimes when we want to get together we have to bust out, you know,
\nthe old pilot factions (? \u2013 not sure if I got that right, they were all
\nlaughing and it was hard to hear Colin), see how our day planer works
\nout.
\nCh: Right
\nC: But, with that said, we are a family, and when family gets together,
\nfamily gets together. And, you know, that is that. We get along fine,
\nand we make due perfectly.
\nM: Good
\nCh: Did you grow up in a neighborhood of celebrity kids? Are you and
\nthe Travolta\u2019s hanging out, or anything like that? Who was your group
\nof friends, you know, your families group of friends?
\nC: Well I actually, although I did spend a lot of time with my dad in
\nLos Angeles, I uh, grew up\u2026went to school in Sacramento, I lived there
\nwith my mother, so I was in fact in Sacramento for a majority of the
\ntime.
\nCh: So you weren\u2019t around all the celebrities all the time?
\nC: No, not all the time. I would, you know, see my dad every other
\nweekend, and spend summers with him and stuff like that, but when it
\ncame to what neighborhood I was raised in, I was raised in East
\nSacramento.
\nCh: So when did you get the acting bug?
\nC: Um, hey, playing with my transformers when I was a little kid, that
\nwas the acting bug. I guess you can say I\u2019ve always had it, it\u2019s always
\nbeen something that\u2019s sort of interested me. I was doing plays in grade
\nschool, middle school, high school, college. So it was always something
\nthat was readily available to me at school. I always would leap at the
\nopportunity, and then when the opportunity came to make the jump for
\nthis to be your job, I said, \u201cOkay, yeah sure, yeah, I\u2019m game.\u201d
\nCh: Is Roswell your first real show?
\nC: Yeah, Roswell was I think maybe anywhere between the 10th and 20th
\naudition I ever went on. I landed the pilot, shot the pilot, and within
\na couple months started making the show.
\nCh: Well it kinda sucks, cause some people may not know what a great
\nhard worker you are, and may say, \u201cOh he got his job cause he\u2019s Tom
\nHanks\u2019 kid.\u201d
\nC: Yeah, and I get that a lot. People don\u2019t realize what a double edge
\nsword it is. Obviously people are very interested, and that\u2019s how I
\nobviously get a lot of auditions in the beginning, when I wasn\u2019t working
\non anything and didn\u2019t have a reel or anything\u2026
\nCh: but you have to prove yourself\u2026
\nC: But, once I walked in the door\u2026
\nCh: Sure\u2026
\nC: I had to prove myself because people are so eager to just say, oh
\nwhatever
\nM: The WB\u2026Roswell\u2026Monday nights at 9, it could happen
\nC: Yeah, who\u2019s to say that it hasn\u2019t happened
\nM: Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, nice
\nCh: This freaks me out Colin, I gotta tell ya
\nC: Well then there you go
\nM: Nice
\nCh: So what\u2019s coming up this season on Roswell?
\nC: Uh, oh man, a lot of cool stuff. We\u2019ve already shot 7 episodes so
\nfar, so we\u2019re seven deep. A couple of bad aliens come to town
\nCh: Oh boy\u2026
\nC: Bad aliens come to town\u2026
\nM: Bad aliens
\nC: Uh, yeah, sorta sounds ridiculous, but it\u2019s true, bad aliens come to
\ntown. I think I\u2019m just driving that home. Bad aliens come to town.
\nM: But it\u2019s fascinating
\nCh: Is that all you can tell us?
\nC: Yeah, and, I really can\u2019t give away too much cause it would ruin the
\nrest of the season.
\nCh: Well that\u2019s great. We\u2019re going to be watching\u2026WB\u2019s Roswell.
\nC: Thank you very much.

\nM: How great would it be to have a Hanks gene? You know, I\u2019m always
\nimpressed\u2026when Tom Hanks wins awards, I\u2019m always impressed by his
\nintelligence, his clarity\u2026
\nCh: He\u2019s very well spoken
\nM: Yep, and how well spoken he is\u2026
\nCh: But poor Colin Hanks, I mean, constantly in dad\u2019s shadow.
\nKent: Do you know how much on eBay you can get for Hanks genes?
\nM: Yes, you can. If he\u2019s got one tenth of what Tom has, the kid\u2019s going
\nto go a long way.
\nCh: You can tell that he\u2019s kinda sick of it.
\nM: Yeah
