“Law & Order” Gives NBC Wednesday Win

LOS ANGELES (UltimateTV.com) – Overnight Metered Market Ratings for Wednesday, January 19, 2000.<\/p>\n

NBC won Wednesday night (January 19) in the overnight-metered markets by a hair, averaging a 9.7 rating\/14 share (8.8\/13) thanks to “Law & Order.” CBS came in a close second with a 9.2\/14 (9.4\/14), with high scores from its Wednesday movie, “Murder in the Mirror.” ABC stepped down into third place with an 8.9\/13 (14.2\/21), thanks to “The Drew Carey Show” and “20\/20.” FOX pulled up in fourth place with a 5.4\/8 (5.0\/7), getting a boost from the long-standing “Beverly Hills, 90210.” The WB grabbed fifth place with a 4.0\/6 (3.5\/5), while UPN grabbed took sixth with a 3.7\/6 (4.1\/6).<\/p>\n

NBC started off the night with a special episode of the revived game show, “Twenty One,” which grabbed a 10.3\/15 in the 8 p.m. hour (last week, “Dateline,” 4.9\/7). A new “The West Wing” at 9 p.m. brought an 8.3\/12 (10.5\/16). The political drama was followed by an encore “Law & Order,” which raked in a 10.5\/17 (11.1\/18).<\/p>\n

CBS led off Wednesday with an encore airing of the “City of Angels” premiere, which nabbed a 7.3\/11 at 8 p.m. (last week, “JAG,” 6.4\/10). At 9 p.m., the CBS Wednesday night movie, “Murder in the Mirror” crept up for a 10.1\/15, peaking at 10 p.m. with a 10.2\/15 (last week, “A Father’s Choice” averaged an 11.0\/17).<\/p>\n

ABC led off the night with “Two Guys and A Girl,” taking a 7.9\/12. It was followed by “Norm” at 8:30 with a 7.1\/11 (last week “Who Wants to Be A Millionaire,” 20.4\/31). “The Drew Carey Show” followed at 9 p.m., grabbing a 9.8\/14 (13.8\/20). A repeat episode of “Spin City” at 9:30 scored a 9.0\/13(11.4\/17). And “20\/20” averaged a 9.8\/16 (9.8\/16) at 10 p.m., taking the net’s top scores.<\/p>\n

FOX started the night with “Beverly Hills, 90210,” which logged a 6.5\/10 (6.2\/9). “…90210” was followed by “Get Real” at 9 p.m., taking a 4.3\/6 (4.0\/6).<\/p>\n

“Dawson’s Creek” began the night for The WB, grabbing a 4.2\/6 (3.9\/6). It was followed by the teen alien drama “Roswell,” which garnered a 3.9\/6 (3.1\/5).<\/p>\n
