This post-modern blending of genres from writer\/executive producer Jason Katims (\u201cRelativity,\u201d \u201cMy So-Called Life\u201d) will make its UPN premiere this fall.<\/p>\n<p>July 3,1947. The crash of a spaceship \u2013 an event officially but never effectively denied by the United States government \u2013 leaves three young aliens to grow up in the sleepy, backwater town of Roswell, New Mexico. Joined together by their common, otherworldly heritage, Max Evans (Jason Behr), his sister Isabel (Katherine Heigl) and Michael Guerin (Brendan Fehr) keep their true identities a secret from their families and friends. But the shooting of classmate Liz Parker (Shiri Appleby) forces Max to use his astonishing powers to save her life, and draws Liz and her best friend Maria DeLuca (Majandra Delfino) into the extraterrestrial trio\u2019s secret world. On the periphery of this extraordinary secret, the aliens must also trust their real identities with the local sheriff, Valenti (William Sadler) and his son and Liz\u2019s former boyfriend, Kyle (Nick Wechsler).<\/p>\n<p>Complicating their overwhelming desire to uncover the truth about themselves \u2013 who or what they are and where their true home might be \u2013 is the need to keep one step ahead of both terrestrial and extraterrestrial adversaries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoswell\u201d explores the emotional drama of the ultimate outsiders \u2013 surviving descendants of alien beings \u2013 attempting to find their place among humans as they struggle with adolescence.<\/p>\n<p>Starring are Shiri Appleby (\u201cI Love You to Death\u201d) as Liz, Jason Behr (\u201cThe Shipping News\u201d) as Max, Katherine Heigl (\u201cMy Father the Hero\u201d) as Isabel, Majandra Delfino (\u201cTraffic\u201d) as Maria, Brendan Fehr (\u201cDisturbing Behavior\u201d) as Michael, Nick Wechsler (\u201cThe Perfect Game\u201d) as Kyle and William Sadler (\u201cThe Shawshank Redemption\u201d) as Sheriff Valenti.<\/p>\n<p>The executive producer is Katims along with co-executive producer Ronald D. Moore. The series is based on the \u201cRoswell High\u201d series of books written by Melinda Metz and is produced by Jason Katims Productions in association with Regency Television and Twentieth Century Fox Television.<\/p>\n<p>Celebrity Chat with Nick Wechsler of Roswell<br \/>\nMonday, October 15 at 7:00pm ET<\/p>\n<p>Nick Wechsler plays Kyle Valenti, one of the human teenagers who knows the secret of his three alien friends in the New Mexico town made famous by the supposed crash of an alien spacecraft in 1947. Based on \u201cRoswell High,\u201d the book series by Melinda Metz, this suspenseful and affecting drama melds science fiction with the alienation of young adulthood. \u201cRoswell\u201d will make its UPN premiere this fall. This marks its third season.<\/p>\n<p>The fifth of eight sons, Wechsler grew up in Albuquerque (not far from the setting of \u201cRoswell\u201d), where his parent and most of his siblings still live. His father is a sheet-metal worker; his mother is a secretary for the U.S. Forest Service. He began his acting career in high school, turning in what he modestly describes as \u201cawe-inspiring performances\u201d in every succeeding school play.<\/p>\n<p>Wechsler moved to Hollywood immediately after graduating from high school and soon landed a small role as a purse-stealing punk in the television movie \u201cFull Circle.\u201d Shortly after, he was cast as \u2018Trek,\u2019 a child prodigy conceived at a \u201cStar Trek\u201d convention, in the series \u201cTeam Knightrider.\u201d He has also appeared in \u201cSilk Stalkings,\u201d \u201cLazarus Man\u201d and the feature film \u201cThe Perfect Game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Celebrity Chat with Adam Rodriguez of Roswell<br \/>\nMonday, October 22 at 7:00pm ET<\/p>\n<p>Adam Rodriguez passionately pursued a baseball career until a spinal injury forced him to reassess his life. While rehabilitating his back and doing a bit of soul searching Rodriguez kept himself busy as a construction worker, janitor, bellman and pizza deliveryman. Although his life had not taken the course he had anticipated as a youth, Rodriguez persevered through the process of unearthing a new desire. At eighteen, now struggling as a New York stockbroker Rodriguez finally discovered his new calling. A few acting classes sparked the fire that would guide Rodriguez to the stage.<\/p>\n<p>A small role on \u201cNYPD Blue\u201d helped land Rodriguez his first regular series spot on CBS \u201cBrooklyn South\u201d as Hector, a young gung-ho policeman. Afterward he played Patrick Fortado; a wheelchair-bound computer expert on UPN\u2019s critically acclaimed \u201cAll Souls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Rodriguez has joined the cast of UPN\u2019s sci-fi drama \u201cRoswell\u201d as Jesse Ramirez, a young attorney working for the firm of Isabel (Katherine Heigl) and Max Evans\u2019 (Jason Behr) father in Roswell, NM.<\/p>\n<p>Rodriguez\u2019s other television credits include a reoccurring role on \u201cFelicity,\u201d \u201cRyan Caufiled: Year One,\u201d and \u201cResurrection Blvd.\u201d He can also be seen briefly as the \u201ccomputer guy\u201d on Jennifer Lopez\u2019s music video \u201cIf You Had My Love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Celebrity Chat with William Sadler of Roswell<br \/>\nMonday, October 29 at 7:00pm ET<\/p>\n<p>William Sadler plays Sheriff Valenti, one of the few humans who knows the secret of the three alien teenagers in the New Mexico town made famous by the supposed crash of an alien spacecraft in 1947. This marks its third season.<\/p>\n<p>In a 30-year acting career that spans films such as \u201cThe Shawshank Redemption\u201d and theatrical productions such as \u201cBiloxi Blues\u201d on Broadway, Sadler has played an extraordinary range of roles.<\/p>\n<p>Sadler\u2019s began his career on the New York stage where he appeared in some 75 productions over a 12-year period, earning him the Obie and Villager awards. His extensive stage experience culminated in his performance in the original Broadway cast of Neil Simon\u2019s Tony Award-winning classic \u201cBiloxi Blues.\u201d For his portrayal of Drill Sergeant Toomey, Sadler received a Drama Desk nomination, and the Dramalogue and Actor\u2019s Equity Award in 1985.<\/p>\n<p>His varied feature film work includes the diabolical Colonel Stewart in \u201cDie Hard 2,\u201d the dim-witted inmate Haywood in the critically acclaimed \u201cThe Shawshank Redemption\u201d and the Grim Reaper in \u201cBill and Ted\u2019s Bogus Journey.\u201d Most recently, he appeared in \u201cThe Green Mile\u201d starring Tom Hanks and \u201cWitness Protection\u201d starring Forrest Whittaker and Tom Sizemore.
