In its second season, Roswell introduced more foul language, more sexual content, and more violence—prompting the PTC to revise its assessment of the series and give it a yellow-light rating. Unfortunately, the October 30 season premiere on UPN indicated that “Roswell” may continue to move further away from its family-friendly roots.

The short opening sequence of the episode shows a man sitting in a stopped car. A woman’s head rises into the frame, clearly suggesting that she had been performing oral sex on the man. The woman gets out of the car to light a cigarette and sees a flash of light. When she approaches the car again, the man’s charred remains are shown.

“Roswell” used to be a show the entire family could watch together, but this kind of graphic content is inappropriate and unnecessary for any age group.
