Half the page shows the new upn promo picture of her. Here’s the article:

Celebrity columnist-Shiri Appleby on Overcoming Insecurities

You may think she has it all, but Roswell star Shiri Appleby was once embarrassed by the fact that she didn’t finish college. Instead of feeling sorry for herself, the beautiful actress decided to tackle her problem head-on!

I had to leave college to start working on Roswell. But I didn’t want to feel like I wasn’t up to par with my friends intellectually. That’s why I’m a big supporter of reading. I haven’t been in school for three years. I haven’t been in lectures, listining to teachers feed me information. I’ve had to figure out what it is I’m interested in so I could have conversations with people and have facts to back up my opinions.

In high school, I always felt like when a teacher told me to read something, it was almost like a chore. But now, when I read those same books, I appreciate them. I finished reading The Great Gatsby, and everyone I talked to read it in high school, but I never did. Maybe I was assigned to it and I just read the Cliff Notes or maybe I felt like I didn’t have to read it. Now, four years later, I feel so left out because I haven’t read all of these books that everyone says they read in high school.

It’s only a matter of feeling left out-you start to see reading as a gift because you’re not worried about what questions will be on the test. Instead, you’re just reading fantastic pieces of literature.

Every book I read teaches me something about life and helps me get a better understanding of who I am as a person. I remember reading I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings growing up. I really identified with that book, because iit was about a young girl going through so much pain and it helped to put my life into perspective. And then there are times in my life when I’m yearning to fall in love, and all I have to do is pick up a book. Reading gets you to see life in different ways and helps you learn more about things you actually care about.

Shiri Appleby (her signature)

On the Sides of the article:

The first book Shiri read cover to cover was Charlotte’s Web which seemed like a 700-page novel at the time, but now is one of her favorite classics.

“It’s the only way to better yourself and het knowledge from other people without being in a school setting.”

On the December calander, they mention “Happy Birthday, Jason Behr” on December 30th. ( I think they forgot Shiri’s!)

On page 100, they mentioned Colin’s new movie “Orange County”. Here’s the article:
Orange County
the players: Colin Hanks, Jack Black, Schuyler Fisk
the scoop: Meet super-nerd Shaun (first/second season Roswell actor Colin Hanks), a senior at Southern Cali high school who’s looking to get away from his loopy parents and loser friends by applying to Stanford. There’s only one little hitch: His guidance counselor accidentally sends the wrong student’s transcript to the college. Rejected by his dream college, Shaun has 24 hours to get his life back on track. But we have a feeling the harder he tries, the more comical the results!
must-see reason: Not getting into his dream school is a total nightmare, but Shaun quickly learns that’s just the beginning of the madness.
(J-14 classifies it as a comedy.)
Next to the picture it says “Spirit Fingers: Can the perfect cheer help Shaun get into Stanford?

In readers picks, on pages 104 and 105, Jason Behr moved up one spot to #7 in Favorite Actors. Roswell has not been seen lately at all on the coolest TV Shows list so I would vote for it!

On the last page, Last Word, features Jason Behr. Full page photo of the new upn promo picture of him. It features a quote also:
“Sometimes, the best thing about somebody is their flaws. If everybody was perfect, it would be kind of boring.”-Jason Behr

Thanks to Christy for this :) In the dec 2001/jan. 2002 issue of J-14, they have got about 5 things

[3
["post-2291","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-leading
["GET
