Nick Wechsler joined pro racers and celebrities in 2014’s “Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Pro\/Celebrity Race”. The annual 10-lap auto race held each April raises money for “Racing for Kids”<\/a>, which is a national fund-raising program benefiting children’s hospitals in Long Beach and Orange County since 1991. <\/p>\n

Nick Wechsler said<\/a> to the Long Beach Post, that he had never driven a manual transmission before he agreed to participate in the race. “I was dragging my feet because I didn’t know if this was going to be my thing,”<\/em> Wechsler told the media. “Now that I have done it, it is my thing … I love it.”<\/em> <\/p>\n

This weekend is the 38th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Pro\/Celebrity Race where actor Nick Wechsler of ABC\u2019s \u201cRevenge\u201d will be joining competitors like \u201cAmazing Race\u201d host Phil Keoghan, \u201cBeing Human\u201d actor Sam Witwer and former NASCAR driver Kyle Petty to test their mettle on a street. \u201cI would seriously doubt I\u2019d place, I mostly just want to be able to keep up with the pack so that I was having fun with everyone, trying to keep up, and trying to hold everyone off,\u201d Wechsler says. \u201cThere are going to be some people who will win and there\u2019ll be some people who are trailing, but I just want to be in the middle. That\u2019s fine with me, because I\u2019ve never done this before and it\u2019s just fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

When he was invited to be in the race, he asked if Witwer could also participate. \u201cI was like, \u2018Hey ask if Sam can go because he\u2019s a great talented actor who actually does like driving fast,\u201d Wechsler laughs. Wechsler and Witwer are just one pair of friends competing against each other at tomorrow\u2019s Pro\/Celebrity race. Another pair of good friends who wanted to race together are \u201cTop Gear\u201d host and Fox Sports 1 analyst Rutledge Wood and his best friend, former NASCAR racer and Fox Sports 1 analyst Kyle Petty.<\/p>\n[…]<\/blockquote>\n

Olympic sprinter Carmelita Jeter, racing legend Al Unser Jr. and actors Max Thieriot, Tricia Helfer, Vanessa Marcil, Corbin Bleu and Nick Wechsler were among the more than a dozen Pro\/Celebrity Race participants who stopped by the Miller Children\u2019s Hospital at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center on Thursday (April 10th, 2014) to give out toys, sign autographs and chat with young patients.
