“As the TV season gets ready to call it a wrap, some of our favorite
\nshows will ride off into the cathode-ray sunset \u2013 and into the annals of
\ntelevision history. With that in mind, several of our writers share their
\nfarewells to those shows \u2013 from “Ally McBeal” to “The X-Files” \u2013 that
\nwill leave a certain void in their viewing lives.<\/p>\n
\nTouched by a Series
\nRoswell<\/p>\nMy favorite aliens are leaving the TV world and heading to the land of
\ncancellation.<\/p>\nI’m already bummed. But I imagine I’ll be sadder when I watch the
\nseries finale. The program about three teen-age aliens was on my
\ndo-not-miss list during its three-year run because I could relate to the
\n“My So-Called Life” aspect of being an outsider in your own world.<\/p>\nThe aliens \u2013 Max (Jason Behr), his older sister Isabelle (Katherine
\nHeigl) and their friend Michael (Brendan Fehr) \u2013 realize that they’re
\nnot like other teens and decide to keep their mysterious origins quiet.
\nThe secret is exposed when Max saves the life of an earthling, Liz
\nParker (Shiri Appleby), after she’s shot amid a robbery attempt. Liz
\nkeeps the secret and falls in love with Max.<\/p>\nThe chemistry between the two actors was great, and the story lines
\nwere mostly riveting and suspenseful.<\/p>\nBut what I’ll miss most is the show’s self-discovery aspect. It was fun
\nto tune in to see what powers the three developed each week. And to
\nhelp unravel the mystery of where they were from, and what their
\npurpose on Earth was.<\/p>\nBut I’m glad they’ll be ending on a high note. Beam them up Scotty,
\nthey’re ready to go home.<\/p>\n(The series finale will air Tuesday at 9 p.m. on UPN).<\/p>\n
