Kelley will be stepping down as executive producer and head writer of &#8220;Boston Public,&#8221; according to The Hollywood Reporter. He is shifting his focus away from the FOX high school drama to focus on his other two series, &#8220;The Practice&#8221; on ABC and the new legal drama, &#8220;girls club&#8221; on FOX.<\/p>\n<p>Kelley won&#8217;t be abandoning the show entirely; he will be an executive consultant on &#8220;Boston Public&#8221; from now on. Kelley adds, &#8220;I believe that this is in the best interest of all of these shows. I still expect to write episodes for &#8216;Boston Public&#8217; and will continue to contribute to the show on a regular basis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Writer-producer Jason Katims will be replacing Kelley. No stranger to high school angst, Katim developed and executive produced the teen alien drama, &#8220;Roswell.&#8221; In 1994, he was a writer on ABC&#8217;s cult hit teen drama, &#8220;My So Called Life.&#8221; Katim will be the show&#8217;s new head writer and will executive produce &#8220;Boston Public&#8221; along with longtime Kelley collaborator Jonathan Pontell (&#8220;Ally McBeal,&#8221; &#8220;The Practice&#8221;). <\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kelley Leaves &#8216;Public&#8217; School Mon, Aug 5, 2002 11:56 AM PDT LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) &#8211; Creator David E.
