Deadline<\/a> reports that Jeanine Mason<\/a> has been cast as the lead of the CW pilot. She is going to play Liz Ortecho in the re-imagining which is based on the Roswell High books by Melinda Metz.<\/p>\n

The official description of the project got updated with Liz Ortecho’s occupation. She is a biomedical researcher, which slighty connects the original show with this re-imagining, since Liz Ortecho and Liz Parker now have common interests… not to forget the soft spot for \u201cMax\u201d.<\/p>\n

Reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, Liz Ortecho (Mason), a jaded biomedical researcher and the daughter of undocumented immigrants, is haunted by a tragic incident. She discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: He\u2019s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The actress currently stars as one of the new surgical interns on ABC’s \u201cGrey’s Anatomy\u201d. She joined the cast of season 14 as Sam Bello. A fun fact: On the show she has an unhealty relationship with her former college flame Andrew DeLuca<\/strong>, who is played by Giacomo Gianniotti.<\/p>\n

Jeanine is known for her work in ABC’s biblical drama \u201cOf Kings and Prophets\u201d. She has also appeared in TV shows such as \u201cCriminal Minds\u201d, \u201cYou\u2019re the Worst\u201c and \u201cArcher\u201d. Her acting career began after winning the fifth season of \u201cYou Think You Can Dance\u201d in 2009.<\/p>\n

If the pilot gets picked up, Jeanine will probably leave Seattle and the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and head to Roswell. Written by Carina Adly MacKenzie, the pilot episode will be directed by Julie Plec, who is best known for The CW’s \u201cVampire Diaries\u201d.<\/p>\n

The re-imagining of \u201cRoswell\u201d is one of eight pilots orders by The CW. The network tends to pick up three or four new shows, but since it was recently announced that they are expanding programming<\/a> to Sundays this fall there’s the possibility that they could pick up more shows this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
