Sting Takes Dido Under His Wing<\/strong><\/p>\n
Had she known she’d be asked to open for Sting in L.A. two months later, Dido
\nmight have reconsidered plunking down several hundred dollars for a flight to
\nsee his show in Ireland. But as a longtime Police fan, the pop chanteuse has
\nno regrets. “Someone I know knew someone in the band, so we had good seats,”
\nshe says. “And having a weekend in Dublin, that couldn’t be all bad.” Her
\ndebut, No Angel, has been out for over a year, but it got a big boost this
\nsummer when Eminem tapped her song “Thank You” as the basis for his track
\n“Stan.” “It all helped, but my mom is taking all the credit for calling me
\nDido,” she laughs. Though her namesake had a tragic end – Virgil’s
\nCarthaginian queen set herself aflame after her lover Aeneas left port –
\nDido’s not about to roll over if wronged: “If someone takes an unfinished
