THE WB CONTINUES TO SCORE GAINS IN ADULT DEMOS VS. PARALLEL WEEK LAST SEASON & SEASON TO DATE IN ADULTS 18-34 & 18-49
Network Still Has Hold Of Teens With Four Of The Top Five Shows Among Female Teens This Week & Season To Date #1 In Teens & Female TeensThe WB Ranks 3rd Among All Networks in Core Women 12-34 Demo
The WB Network continues to grow across all adult demos, in both men and women, year-to-year. Versus the parallel week last season, in men 18-34, The WB scored a tremendous 42% increase to a 1.7 from a 1.2 leading the network to a substantial 22% increase in adults 18-34 (2.2 vs. 1.8) year-to-year. The WB also had a 6% increase in adults 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.7) vs. last year. Versus season to date figures, The WB is +16% (2.2 vs. 1.9) year-to-year in adults 18-34.
In its core demographic of females 12-34, The WB, season-to-date is #3 among all networks with a 3.2 rating, trailing only NBC and ABC.
Although all networks are experiencing year-to-year declines thus far in female teens, The WB is still #1 in the trend-setting demo and in total teens among all networks season-to-date. For the week, The WB had the #1 and 4 of the top 5 programs in female teens and 2 of the top 20 in women 12-34. 7TH HEAVEN was the top-ranked show among female teens (7.1/21) for the second time this season, ROSWELL (5.6/18) ranked third, DAWSON’S CREEK (5.5/22) was fourth, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (4.9/19) placed fifth and CHARMED (4.1/16) and ANGEL (4.1/15) tied for 10th. In women 12-34, for the week, 7TH HEAVEN (5.0/15) was 13th and DAWSON’S CREEK (4.8/16) was 17TH.
For the season, 7TH HEAVEN (7.3/23) and DAWSON’S CREEK (6.2/24) ranked #1 and #2 in female teens, in which The WB placed nine shows among the top 20. DAWSON’S CREEK (5.3/17) ranks 13th season-to-date in women 12-34 and 7TH HEAVEN (4.7/14) is 19th.

Sunday Night Schedule, Led By ‘Steve Harvey’ Sets Or Ties Six Season Highs; ‘Steve Harvey’ Sets Or Ties Eight Season Bests
The WB’s Sunday night comedy block is picking up steam as it set or tied six season bests this week, including in all 12-34 demos (adults, 1.8/5, women 1.8/5 and men 1.7/5). The line-up also tied its season bests in adults 18-34 (1.6/4) and women 18-34 (1.8/5) as well as in men 18-49 (1.2/3).
THE STEVE HARVEY SHOW led the way by setting, or tying, eight season marks – adults 18-34 (2.0/6), women 18-34 (2.3/7), men 18-34 (1.7/5), adults 12-34 (2.1/6), women 12-34 (2.4/7), men 12-34 (1.8/5), adults 18-49 (1.6/4) and men 18-49 (1.3/3).
THE PJs had a solid week as well, scoring, or tying five season bests – adults 18-34 (1.7/4), women 18-34 (1.9/5), adults 12-34 (2.0/5), women 12-34 (2.1/6) and female teens (2.8/8). HYPE pitched in by tying its season high score in adults 18-34 (1.8/4), women 18-34 (1.7/4) and women 12-34 (1.8/5). NIKKI easily bested its top female teen score with a 3.0/9, a +58% improvement from the previous week. The WB’s two new Sunday series, HYPE and NIKKI topped the CBS movie is all 18-34 and 12-34 demos.

“Charmed” Posts Across-The-Board Gains & Places #2, Ahead Of ‘Millionaire,’ In Women 18-34 & 12-34, Carrying Thursday Line-Up To Solid Gains
The WB’s CHARMED continued its terrific start to the season as it showed week-to-week improvement in every demographic, propelling the network’s Thursday line-up to another growth story.
CHARMED, which placed second in its time period in women 18-34 and women 12-34, beating ‘Millionaire’ on ABC, “City of Angels” on CBS, the Fox Movie and wrestling on UPN, scored across the board. Some of the most impressive growth came in The WB’s key demos of women 18-34 (3.6/10, which accounted for a +16% gain in rating and a +25% gain in share), persons 12-34 (3.0/9, +20%/+29%) and in male teens (2.5/8), which without competition from baseball playoffs showed +127%/+167% gains. The popular series also posted gains in adults 18-34 (2.9/8), persons 12-34 (3.0/9), men 12-34 (2.2/7), teens (3.3/11), female teens (4.1/16), adults 18-49 (2.7/7), women 18-49 (3.3/8) and men 18-49 (2.0/5). CHARMED topped all time period competition in female teens (4.1/16). Compared to the third week of originals last season, CHARMED showed gains in men 12-34 (2.2/7), men 18-34 (2.1/6) and in all of the 18-49 demos – adults (2.7/7), women (3.3/8) and men (2.0/5).
GILMORE GIRLS scored week-to-week gains in the all-important women 18-34 demo (1.8/5, +13%/+25%) and in male teens (1.8/6, +157%/+200%).
For the night, The WB placed second in women 12-34 (2.9/9) and third in women 18-34 (2.7/8) and persons 12-34 (2.3/7), a demo in which it tied ABC. The network showed week-to-week growth in adults 18-34 (2.1/6), women 18-34 (2.7/8), persons 12-34 (2.3/7), men 12-34 (1.6/5), adults 18-49 (1.9/5), women 18-49 (2.4/6), men 18-49 (1.3/4), teens (2.8/10) and male teens (2.2/7), which tied its season high.

“Dawson’s Creek” Is #1 In Women 18-34 & 12-34 For The 2nd Consecutive Week & Tops In Female Teens For 3rd Straight Week; “Felicity” Ranks #3 In Key Women 18-34 & 12-34 Demos
DAWSON’S CREEK continued its assault on all of The WB’s target demographics, topping all time-period competition in women 18-34 (4.6/14) and women 12-34 (4.8/16) for the second straight week, facing original competition on all of the other networks. DAWSON’S CREEK also placed #1 for the night in female teens for its third time in three airings this season. The series also set a season high in men 18-34 (2.7/9), which also tied its high dating back to November, 1998.
FELICITY also performed well in the network’s key demos, placing third in its time period in women 18-34 (3.2/9) and women 12-34 (3.3/10).
For the night, The WB finished #1 in female teens (4.4/19), #3 in women 18-34 (3.9/12) and #3 in women 12-34 (4.0/13).

The WB Continues Its Trend Of Growth In The Key 18-34 Demos
The WB continued its trend for the 2000-2001 season by showing strong growth in its Monday-through-Thursday line-ups.
The Tuesday tandem of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and ANGEL showed year-to-year growth compared to the fourth week of originals last season in men 18-34 (3.1 vs. 2.1, for a gain of +48%), adults 18-34 (3.3 vs. 2.8), men 12-34 (2.9 vs. 2.6), adults 18-49 (2.5 vs. 2.4), women 18-49 (2.8 vs. 2.7) and men 18-49 (2.1 vs. 2.0). The WB was #2 for the night in persons 12-34 (3.3/9), females 12-34 (3.7/11) and #3 for the night in women 18-34 (3.4/9). The network was also #1 for the night in female teens with a season-high 4.5/17.
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER had an outstanding night finishing second in its time period in persons 12-34 (3.5/11) and females 12-34 (4.0/12) as well as third in women 18-34 (3.6/10) and males 12-34 (3.0/9). The series, which was #1 for the night in female teens with a season-high 4.9/19, was up year-to-year in all key male demos including +50% in men 18-34 (3.3 vs. 2.2), men 12-34 (3.0 vs. 2.9) and men 18-49 (2.3 vs. 2.1). Week-to-week, BUFFY was up in adults 18-34 (3.4 vs. 3.1), men 18-34 (3.3 vs. 2.4), persons 12-34 (3.5 vs. 3.2), females 12-34 (4.0 vs. 3.9), men 12-34 (3.0 vs. 2.9), teens (3.6 vs. 3.5) and female teens (4.9 vs. 4.4).
ANGEL showed its most dramatic year-to-year increase in men 18-34 as well, where it leaped +58% (3.0 vs. 1.9). The second-year series also grew in adults 18-34 (3.1 vs. 2.6), men 12-34 (2.7 vs. 2.3) and in all 18-49 demos – adults (2.4 vs. 2.3), women (2.8 vs. 2.6) and men (2.0 vs. 1.9). It also tied last year’s output in women 18-34 (3.2) and set a season high in female teens (4.1/15). Compared to two weeks ago, the last time ANGEL competed against Presidential debates, the series jumped +50% in men 18-34 (3.0 vs. 2.0), and also showed gains in adults 18-34 (3.1 vs. 2.7), persons 12-34 (3.1 vs. 2.8), men 12-34 (2.7 vs. 2.1), men 18-49 (2.0 vs. 1.6), female teens (4.1 vs. 3.6) and households (3.4 vs. 3.1). ANGEL also tied its mark of two weeks ago in adults 18-49 (2.4) and teens (3.0).
HIGHLIGHTS FOR MONDAY, OCTOBER 16
The WB Monday Ranks #1 In Women 12-34, Teens & Female Teens
The WB’s Monday continued its stellar start of the season as it showed growth off of its impressive first two weeks this season. For the night, The WB was #1 in women 12-34 (4.4/13), teens (4.6/14) and female teens (6.4/19) and tied NBC for third in persons 12-34 (3.1/9). The line-up was also extremely competitive in women 18-34 (3.7/11), where it was one share point out of second place. Historically it was the best Monday on The WB in women 18-34 (3.7/11) and tied the highest adults 18-34 score (2.6/7) since February, 1999. In adults 18-49 the 2.5/6 was The WB’s best since March, 1999 and in persons 12-34 (3.1/9) and women 12-34 (4.4/13) the ratings were the network’s best on a Monday since May, 1999. The household number of 4.0/6 was The WB’s best since November, 1999.
The WB’s highest-rated show, 7TH HEAVEN continues its roll, placing first among all time-period competition in females 12-34 (5.0/15) and male teens (3.8/12) and #1 for the night in teens (5.4/16) and female teens (7.1/21). The family drama was also #2 in persons 12-34 (3.5/11) and women 18-34 (4.2/12), tied for #2 in women 18-49 (3.9/10) and #3 in adults 18-34 (2.8/9). 7TH HEAVEN also scored its highest women 18-34 ratings since May, 1999 and best women 12-34 number since January, 2000.
ROSWELL delivered The WB’s best time period ratings since BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER occupied the time period in January, 1998 in persons 12-34 (2.7/7), women 12-34 (3.9/11), adults 18-34 (2.3/6), women 18-34 (3.3/9), adults 18-49 (2.2/5), women 18-49 (3.0/7) and men 18-49 (1.4/3). Additionally it was ROSWELL’s best household performance (3.2/5) ever on a Monday. In addition, the show scored its best ratings since its premiere on Wednesday, October 6, 1999 among adults 18-34 and women 18-34, and equaled its best output in females 12-34 since its second week on the air. ROSWELL ranked #1 in the 9-10 p.m. hour among female teens (5.6/18) and finished a strong #2 in the time period among females 12-34 (3.9/11) and teens 12-17 (3.7/11). Versus the equivalent night a year ago, when Safe Harbor aired in the time slot, ROSWELL has more than doubled the time period delivery among adults 18-34 (up +130%), women 18-34 (up +106%) and men 18-49 (up +100%), and more than tripled the draw among men 18-34 (up +225%).
