Theme Song
You love Roswell’s theme song? That is “Here With Me” by the English singer and songwriter Dido.
The song was the first single from her debut album “No Angel“, which was released in 1999. Dido sold over 21 million copies worldwide and won her several awards. While the wasn’t included in the pilot episode, “Here With Me” played in the opening credits of almost all episodes. An instrumantal version plays in the credits after each episode, as well. The season three episode “I Married An Alien“ received unique opening credits in the style of a cartoon strip with matching music. The song also played in the final scene of the season one finale of the show.
The magazine UPFRONT once asked Dido, how the choice of using “Here With Me” as theme song came about. Dido answered that it was a normal thing.
“The music director called us and said we want to use the song if it works. The sweet thing was, all the guys came to a show of mine in L.A., and they were all in their suits, really smart, and they stood in a row, and explained to me why the song was perfect, and they were recreating the beginning of “Here With Me.” It was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen, with the blippy noises. And they really liked all the spacey sounds – that’s what made them think, sci-fi! And then they were explaining why the lyrics were so great – so I loved it. And then they sent me the credits with the song on it, and it was very exciting. That was quite early on in the whole process, so it was exciting to see my song in that context. The week they actually played it, it was the season finale or something, I think my sales quadrupled. It was the most extraordinary thing.”
As part of Save Roswell Campaigns, fans requested the song on radio stations and on MTV’s TRL. Two music videos were shot of that song. The first version was released to the American market in 1999 for promotion only and a second music video was directed by Liz Friedlander.
The song featured in a scene of the 2003 movie “Love Actually“ and made an deep impact with audiences again.
“Here With Me” was covered by Sarah Brightman for her 2000 album “La Luna” and in 2019, Daniel Blake recorded a cover of the song for the usage in The CW’s re-imagining. The song starts playing when the character Michael Guerin plays it on his guitar and the song continues to the final scenes of Roswell, New Mexico’s season one.
In Roswell’s second season epsiode #215 Viva Las Vegas Isabel dances to Dido’s song “Thank You”. The sales of Dido’s debut album and her popularity skyrocketed after rapper Eminem decided to sample her song in his song “Stan” about an obsessed and homicidal fan.

Album: No Angel
I didn’t hear you leave,
I wonder how am I still here?
I don’t want to move a thing,
It might change my memory
Oh I am what I am,
I’ll do what I want, but I can’t hide
I won’t go, I won’t sleep,
I can’t breathe, until you’re resting here with me
I won’t leave, I can’t hide,
I cannot be, until you’re resting here with me
I don’t want to call my friends,
They might wake me from this dream
And I can’t leave this bed,
Risk forgetting all that’s been
Oh I am what I am,
I’ll do what I want, but I can’t hide
I won’t go, I won’t sleep,
I can’t breathe, until you’re resting here with me
I won’t leave, I can’t hide,
I cannot be, until you’re resting here with me
