Katherine Heigl is set to star in the premiere of the NBC original movie “Critical Assembly”. The film was originally due to air in the Fall of 2001 – under the title “Ground Zero” – but was shelved as a result of the tragic events of September 11th.

The renamed film will air Saturday, July 12th 9/8pm on NBC and is described by NBC as follows:

“In this heart-pounding NBC original movie, four globally minded college students secretly build a nuclear device just to prove how easy it is. However, when real terrorists steal the bomb, it’s a race against time to find and disarm it. Katherine Heigl (Roswell), Kerr Smith (Dawson’s Creek) and Michael Beach (Third Watch) co-star. TV14″
