“I have a minute on set while I watch them set stuff up. Any #RoswellNM questions?”, wrote Carina Adly MacKenzie on December 12th. The fans on Twitter asked the showrunner some great questions about the upcoming show.

Since the release of the new romantic poster reveal, at the very latest, new fans know that the show will feature a romance. In the Q&A Carina Adly MacKenzie tells which part of the show is her favorite: the murder mystery. She also points out which guest stars she would like on the show and she clarifies that no original cast members will cameo in the first season of the show.

Hannah: Is Vlamis as Vlamis as he seems? in all seriousness I’m v. excited to see this version of Michael—any “fun fact” you want to share about the character?
Carina Adly MacKenzie: Michael was my fave character on the 1999 show & remains my fave. Vlamis is so vlaminous.

FAMILY ⚜️ Always and Forever: Will we have @Lifeofrileyv and @TheClaudiaBlack scenes?
Carina Adly MacKenzie: Not this season!
Claudia Black: Will we have scenes with Riley and Claudia building a snowman? Cute! Wait. I just REALLY put some thought into logistics and that means we’d be shooting in the freezing cold outside and when I did that in Toronto I couldn’t form words. I’ll answer-NO

Carina Adly MacKenzie: Not in season 1.

Rachael: How important are the romantic relationships to the show?
Carina Adly MacKenzie: It’s a romance for sure. But my favorite part of the show is the murder mystery.

Carina Adly MacKenzie: Yup. Lots.

Carina Adly MacKenzie: Can’t choose. I worked just as hard on all of them. The pilot was the most enjoyable to shoot.

Liz: What year did the new crew graduate high school again? Prepping my pre-game playlist 🎼

Carina Adly MacKenzie: I think 9.

Carina Adly MacKenzie: I might try and preserve my mental health and hide in a hole with my friends that week.

Felicia: What was your favorite scene to shoot?
Carina Adly MacKenzie: I’ll tell you after the pilot airs. It involves kissing.

Carina Adly MacKenzie: Thanks. I was a huge fan of the original when I was 12. Trying to do something very different but honor the original in tiny ways that hardcore fans will pick up.

Carina Adly MacKenzie: They have a complicated and fraught history… that goes back through generations of their families.

Michael Trevino Source: How good does Michael Trevino look in scrubs?
Carina Adly MacKenzie: Call the police.

Carina Adly MacKenzie: Charles Michael Davis and Lindsey Morgan

Kayla: Will you pay homage to the original theme song at all during the first season? Can’t wait for the premier date.

André: Can you tell us a little bit more about @tylerjblackburn’s character?
Carina Adly MacKenzie: Yup. He’s a staff sergeant in the Air Force. In Roswell he was welcomed home as a war hero. He’s semi-closeted. His dad is a dick.

André: I know you probably aren’t in charge of this kind of stuff but, do you think we will get any #RoswellNM promo like interviews and stuff?
Carina Adly MacKenzie: Nathan, Jeanine, and I have done a lot of press already. The rest of the cast did a day of press on set. We’ve got a lot more scheduled after Christmas break.

André: Can we expect a scene between @tylerjblackburn & @heatherhemmens? Tyler is literally my idol and I’m a Hellcats Orphan since ever, so…
Carina Adly MacKenzie: A really beautiful one in the second episode and many more to follow.

liam: Kyle’s biting one liners were one of my fave parts of the OG Roswell— could you share a fun quirk about you love about Trevino’s Kyle? I’m so looking forward to him!!
Carina Adly MacKenzie: He’s funny af.

Liane: We know @ShiriAppleby is directing some episodes, but are any other original cast members contributing? I’m so excited to see the direction you’ve taken the show in, by the way :)
Carina Adly MacKenzie: Just Shiri for now!

Kath McGowan: Oh he looks so young there. Loved my experience back in the day. Is there a lot of VFX in #RoswellNM ?
Carina Adly MacKenzie: We do more SFX than VFX.
