NEW YORK/LOS ANGELES – It will be LIGHTS, CAMERA, FACE-OFF in Los Angeles in late January as stars from the world of film, television and music battle one another in the NHL All-Star Celebrity Challenge, a benefit hockey game to raise money for Hockey’s All-Star Kids and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Expected to take the ice are Cuba Gooding, Jr., Joshua Jackson, Denis Leary, and Kiefer Sutherland, among others. They will be joined by NHL Alumni in a game pitting two teams, BRUCKHEIMER’S BAD BOYS, captained by Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and KELLEY’S HEROES, captained by Producer David E. Kelley.

The NHL All-Star Celebrity Challenge presented by Microsoft Windows XP, one of many events ushering in the 52nd NHL All-Star Game, will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at STAPLES Center. Tickets go on sale starting Dec. 4.

Each team will include celebrities and former NHL stars. The game will follow a regulation-game format, with a four-on-four sudden-death overtime if necessary. Bruckheimer, producer of the soon-to-be released film, Black Hawk Down, and Kelley, producer/writer of Ally McBeal, The Practice and Boston Public, will conduct a draft in early January, where they will choose players to make up their respective team rosters. Information on venue and time will be released in late December.

Bruckheimer and Kelley will be able to choose from a list of celebrities, which includes: Kim Alexis-Duguay (model), Rachel Blanchard (Road Trip), David Boreanaz (Angel), Enrico Colantoni (Just Shoot Me), Dave Coulier (Full House), Mark DeCarlo (Studs), Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea), Bobby Farrelly (producer), Brendan Fehr (Roswell), Frank Gehry (architect), Cuba Gooding, Jr. (Men of Honor), Scott Grimes (Band of Brothers), Paul Guilfoyle (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), Jerry Houser (Slap Shot), Joshua Jackson (Dawson’s Creek), Chris Jericho (WWF), Denis Leary (The Job), Neal McDonough (Band of Brothers), Sean McCann (Great Big Sea), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Dan Moriarty (NHL Cool Shots), Rob Paulsen (Animaniacs, Pinky & the Brain), Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills 90210), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Kiefer Sutherland (24), DB Sweeney (The Cutting Edge), Alan Thicke (Growing Pains), Alex Trebek (Jeopardy), Michael Vartan (Alias), Donnie Wahlberg (Band of Brothers), Barry Watson (Seventh Heaven), Llewellyn Wells (Producer, The West Wing), and Scott Wolf (Party of Five).

NHL Alumni who will be joining them are Glenn Anderson, Mel Bridgman, Dino Ciccarelli, Ron Duguay, Phil Esposito, Rod Gilbert, Michel Goulet, Jari Kurri, Pete Mahovlich, Lanny McDonald, Bernie Nicholls, Larry Playfair, Peter Stastny, Dave Taylor and Rogie Vachon.

The team assistant coaches are Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), Jeremy Piven (Serendipity) and Bill Goldberg (wrestler). Team trainers are Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond), Dule Hill (The West Wing), Colin Mochrie (Whose Line Is It Anyway) and Jane Seymour (Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman).

Proceeds from the sale of tickets to the NHL All-Star Celebrity Challenge benefit Hockey’s All-Star Kids and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Hockey’s All-Star Kids is a joint charity initiative of the NHL and NHL Players’ Association, which raises money for the youngest victims of cancer and other childhood illnesses. Childrens Hospital Los Angeles has been treating the most seriously ill and injured children in Los Angeles for more than a century. A leader in pediatric research, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles also is acknowledged throughout the United States and around the world for its leadership in pediatric and adolescent health care, and is considered one of America’s premier teaching hospitals.

Tickets are $25 for seats in the lower bowl of STAPLES Center, which also includes admission to NHL All-Star FANtasy presented by Nextel, an interactive hockey theme park at the Los Angeles Convention Center. NHL All-Star Celebrity Challenge participants will conduct their pre-game skate on the FANtasy rink starting at 5:30 p.m. on Wed., Jan. 30. Tickets for upper bowl seats are $15. NHL All-Star Friday may be seen live on ESPN and CBC on Friday, Feb. 1 (5:45 PT / 8:45 ET). The 52nd NHL All-Star Game, which pits NHL stars from North America against NHL stars from the rest of the World, may be seen live on ABC and CBC on Saturday, Feb. 2 (12 noon PT / 3 p.m. ET).
