Some Of The Ratings For This Season
I’ve gotten numerous requests/inquiries about the ratings for the show for this season. So, here are the ratings from October 9 (the season premiere) through last week’s episode (February 12) along with any “notes” from Media Week about the ratings. All ratings info comes from Mediaweek. For the dates with no info, I will get the ratings for you and post them at a later date.
OCTOBER 9
Although week two of UPN’s Buffy was fit at a comfortable 4.8/ 7 at
8 p.m. (on par with year ago levels on The WB), Roswell made its UPN debut with a disappointing (and last place) 3.6/ 5 at 9 p.m. – 25 percent below Buffy.OCTOBER 16

On UPN, Roswell continues to flounder with a 2.8/ 4 — 38 percent below its (musical) Buffy lead-in (4.5/ 6).

On CBS, The Guardian kept the heavily competitive 9 p.m. hour relatively warm with an 8.3/12 with UPN’s Roswell number six at a paltry 2.6/ 4 — 38 percent below its Buffy lead-in.
NOVEMBER 27
On another winning night for the WB, Gilmore Girls (4.9/ 7) bested UPN’s still solid Buffy (4.3/ 6) by 14 percent with lead-out Smallville at a 5.9/ 8 — 119 percent ahead of UPN’s Roswell (2.7/ 4).
DECEMBER 4
In the battle of the repeats in the land called weblet, the WB’s Gilmore Girls (a still potent 4.2/ 6) and Smallville (3.5/ 5) bested UPN (Buffy 2.8/ 4, Roswell 2.2/ 3), on average, by 52 percent.
DECEMBER 11
On a final UPN note, a repeat of Roswell at 9 p.m. sunk to a mere 1.8/ 3 — 36 percent below Buffy.
DECEMBER 18
The WB held up particularly well despite airing repeats with its combination of Gilmore Girls (3.7/6) and Smallville (3.9/6) up 50 percent, on average, over Buffy (R, 2.7/4) and Roswell (2.4/4) on UPN.
JANUARY 1
On the WB, a double dose repeat of those enchanting Gilmore Girls averaged a 3.7/ 5 from 8-10 p.m., 48 percent above UPN?s combination of Buffy (R, 2.5/ 4) and Roswell (2.4/ 3).
JANUARY 29
The only other six-network entertainment option at 9 p.m., UPN’s Roswell, lagged at a typical 2.8/4 — 33 percent below lead-in Buffy (#6, 4.2/6).
FEBRUARY 6
Even better for the WB is 9 p.m. lead-out
Smallville with a not-so-small 5.4/8 — 116 percent above UPN’s hiatus-bound Roswell (#6, 2.5/4).FEBRUARY 13
The WB also held up considerably opposite the Olympics with Gilmore Girls (#4, 4.9/7) and Smallville (#4, 5.7/8) up an average 66 percent over UPN’s Buffy (#6, 3.9/6) and Roswell (#6, 2.4/3).
