ABC picked up “Samurai Girl” – shooting starts this spring
The ABC Family Network has picked up Brendan’s project “Samurai Girl” which is a six-hour miniseries from executive producer Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files), SCI FI Wire reports with reference to Variety.
The series is an adaptation of the popular book series for young adults. “Samurai Girl” tells the story of Heaven, a teen who struggles to balance her role as the adopted daughter of a wealthy family with the ancient traditions of her Samurai ancestors.
Jamie Chung (Veronica Mars) is playing the lead role. The cast also includes Saige Thompson, Kyle Labine, Anthony Brandon Wong, Steven Brand and Kenneth Choi. ABC plans to air the series as a three-part programming event over the course of a weekend this August.
The project will start shooting this spring in Vancouver, Canada.
