THE WB FINISHES THE SEASON ON A STRONG NOTE AS SIGNATURE DRAMAS “DAWSON’S CREEK,” “FELICITY,” “BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER,” “ANGEL,” “7TH HEAVEN” & “ROSWELL” ALL SHOW GROWTH FROM FEBRUARY TO MAY – THE WB WINS FEMALE TEENS FOR THE 3RD STRAIGHT YEAR

BURBANK, CA (May 31, 2000) – The WB Network’s signature series DAWSON’S CREEK, FELICITY, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, ANGEL, 7TH HEAVEN & ROSWELL all showed season-ending momentum through demographic ratings gains from February to May. The growth charge was keyed by late-season scheduling changes of FELICITY & ROSWELL. In addition, for the third year in a row, The WB finished #1 in females with a 4.5/15.

The WB’s Monday showed significant gains from February in adults 18-34 (2.0/6 vs. 1.5/4) and women 18-34 (2.6/7 vs. 2.1/5). ROSWELL, which moved to Mondays on April 10, led the way to growth on Mondays more than doubling time-period averages in adults 18-34 (1.8/5 vs. 0.7/2), women 18-34 (2.3/6 vs. 1.0/3), men 18-34 (1.2/4 vs. 0.5/1), adults 18-49 (1.5/4 vs. 0.7/2) and women 18-49 (1.9/4 vs. 0.9/2). The series also brought dramatic gains in Persons 12-34 (2.1/6 vs. 1.3/4), Females 12-34 (2.7/7 vs. 1.8/5) and men 12-34 (1.5/4 vs. 0.9/2).

The WB’s other late-season move of FELICITY to Wednesdays at 9 p.m. also paid excellent dividends. FELICITY, which moved to Wednesday on April 5, improved the time period vs. February most drastically in adults 18-34 (2.1/6 vs. 1.6/4), women 18-34 (2.9/7 vs. 2.1/5) and women 18-49 (2.1/5 vs. 18./4).

Show highlights:

* DAWSON’S CREEK scored a 5.3/16 in women 18-34 in its first week without competition from Beverly Hills 90210, which is its best number of the season in the key demographic, including the beginning of the season when The WB was broadcast nationally on the WGN Superstation. DAWSON’S CREEK even beat Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in the key demo for the first half hour (5.1 vs. 4.9).

* DAWSON’S CREEK also scored its best rating of the season in adults 18-34 (3.8/12). 7

* DAWSON’S CREEK checked in with a 6.0 rating in females 12-34, which equalled the show’s output during the final week the network was broadcast nationally on WGN and defeating Millionaire for the hour, 6.0 vs. 5.1.

* FELICITY popped with a 3.5/9 in women 18-34, which was its best output in the time period and The WB’s best in the time period since the final week of national coverage on WGN.

* FELICITY checked in with its best ratings in the eight weeks since it moved to Wednesday’s in adults 18-34 (2.4/7), females 12-34 (3.9/10), persons 12-34 (2.5/7), female teens (4.9/16), women 18-49 (2.4/6) and adults 18-49 (1.7/4).

* THE WB’S WEDNESDAY had its best averages in women 18-34 (4.4/12) and adults 18-34 (3.1/9) since the WGN disengagement.

* 7TH HEAVEN excelled among women 18-49, notching a 3.7/10 to tie its third highest output of the season. The show ranked #1 in the time period among females 12-34 (4.5/14) and dominated the night among female teens (7.6/26). The program also led among total teens with a 5.2/17.

* The BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER season finale outgunned the season finale of JAG on CBS among women 18-34 (3.1/9 vs. 2.9/9) and persons 12-34 (2.7/9 vs. 2.2/8) and tied the military drama among adults 18-34 (2.5/8). The acclaimed drama ranked 3 in its time slot among females 12-34 and was neck-and-neck with Millionaire among female teens (3.8/15 vs. 3.9/15) for the #1 spot.

* ANGEL’S season ender ranked 3 in the time period among females 12-34 (3.1/8) and also scored well among teens 12-17 (3.6/12), female teens (3.8/14) and male teens (3.4/10). Angel defeated 60 Minutes II on CBS among adults 18-34 (2.3/6 vs. 1.9/5), women 18-34 (2.8/7 vs. 2.5/6), men 18-34 (1.8/6 vs. 1.4/4) and persons 12-34 (2.7/8 vs. 1.7/5). The drama ranked 3 in the time period among females 12-34 (3.1/8) and also scored well among teens 12-17 (3.6/12), female teens (3.8/14) and male teens (3.4/10).
