Shiri Appleby: The Road to Success

Shiri Appleby is not an overnight success. The 21-year-old California native began her career in a Raisin Bran commercial at the age of four. More commercials and a part on an episode of the TV series “Doogie Howser, M.D.” followed, but Shiri didn’t act much during high school. “I actually had normal jobs,” she says. “One summer, I worked as a hostess AND I was a camp counselor.” She did manage to appear on “Xena: Warrior Princess: a couple of times and shoot a few small movies. After high school, Shiri attended college at the University of Southern California, where she studied English. During her sophomore year, she had the chance to audition for a new WB series – Roswell. She read for the parts of Maria, Isabel and Liz, and was called back to meet with the producers seven times. It was after she read with Jason behr that she got the part of Liz Parker, whose chemistry with Max is cosmic!

Shiri likes to read.. and names “Angela’s Ashes” and “Cather in the rye” among her favorites.
