Jason Katims – Netflix Orders ”Away”

Jason Katims’ space drama “Away” received a straight-to-series 10-episode order at Netflix. “Away” is described as an epic love story and a thrilling tale of survival set against humanity’s greatest endeavor — the first human mission to Mars.

The plot centers on Emma Green, an American astronaut who must leave her husband and teenage daughter behind in order to command an international space crew embarking upon a treacherous, yearlong mission. It is a series about hope, humanity and how ultimately, we need one another if we are to achieve impossible things.

Written by Katims and Andrew Hinderaker “Away” is loosely inspired by Chris Jones’ Esquire story of the same name. ”Felicity” co-creator Matt Reeves will executive produce.
