Teen Choice Awards Air August 22, 2000

Pop music sensations Britney Spears, 98 Degrees, Jessica Simpson, Vitamin C and Pink, along with hit television stars Frankie Muniz, Scott Foley and Dr. Drew and Adam Carolla are set to present at THE 2000 TEEN CHOICE AWARDS, an awards special celebrating the hottest teen icons in film, television, music and sports — as chosen by American teenagers –Tuesday, Aug. 22 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

The highly successful TEEN CHOICE AWARDS, which debuted in August 1999, was a ratings-winner, ranking No. 1 in total teens, male teens and female teens — garnering a 41 share in that demographic. Last year’s honorees, performers and presenters included Freddie Prinze, Jr., Britney Spears, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Christina Aguilera, Blink 182, ‘N Sync, Sandra Bullock and Tyra Banks, among others.

Seventeen, the No. 1 teen magazine, will serve again as the official balloting partner and will collaborate with FOX in numerous marketing endeavors in and out of the magazine, including sweepstakes and contest opportunities, special in-book sections, consumer events, special on-air award category and post-event presence.

As the official balloting sponsor, Seventeen will provide a multi-page ballot in the magazine’s July and August issues. Ballots will also be included in several other PRIMEDIA youth entertainment publications such as BOP, Teen Beat, Tiger Beat and Sixteen, for the same two-month period.

In addition to the in-book balloting inserts, teen voters, aged 12 through 19, also will be able to vote for the year’s top celebrities online through July 10 by logging on to seventeen.com.

THE 2000 TEEN CHOICE AWARDS will be executive produced by Bob Bain and Mike Burg. Michael Levitt and Paul Flattery are producers. Morris Abraham is the director.
