RECORD BREAKING PERFORMANCES FROM SIGNATURE SERIES “7th HEAVEN,” “DAWSON’S CREEK”, “FELICITY” & “CHARMED” ‘BUFFY,’ “ANGEL”, AS WELL AS ‘SABRINA’ & “ROSWELL”

BURBANK, CA (November 30, 2000) – With all the votes finally counted in the November sweeps election, The WB can claim a stunning victory in year-to-year ratings growth behind the network’s highest adult, men and women 18-34 ratings EVER FOR ANY SWEEP and all-time high November sweeps ratings in adults, men and women 18-49. To top off what was an exceptional sweep, The WB scored its first ever adult demo victory over a big four network, beating CBS in Women 18-34 with a 2.92 rating vs. CBS’s 2.87. The win comes out to 15,000 women 18-34 per show or roughly 30 times more than the difference between Bush and Gore in Florida. The win should withstand any CBS recounts.

Relying on its quality slate of scripted dramas and comedies and without specials, stunts or gimmicks, The WB scored the highest year-to-year increases of any network in almost every key demo. For the sweep, The WB will finish with the highest November-to-November growth among all networks in Adults 18-34 (+28%) & Adults 18-49 (+19%), Men 18-34 (+55%), Men 18-49 (+27%) & Men 12-34 (+20%) as well as persons 12-34 (+8%).

The gains by The WB are more remarkable contrasted with big losses in all key adult demos by ABC, Fox and CBS and only slight gains for NBC. The WB’s gains, coupled with its competition’s losses in key demos have drastically narrowed the gap between the big four and The WB in adult demos especially among women 18-34. The WB actually surged ahead of CBS (2.92-2.87) in women 18-34 to take over fourth place and slashed ABC’s year ago advantage of 3.2 rating points, down to 1.4 rating points (5.6 vs. 2.4 in Nov. 99′ to 4.3 vs. 2.9 this Nov.)

The network’s signature series FELICITY, 7TH HEAVEN, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, ANGEL, CHARMED as well as ROSWELL led the way by scoring their best sweeps ratings ever in many adult 18-34 and 18-49 demos.

FELICITY, which can now officially be dubbed “The Comeback Series Of The Year,” is living up to its early expectations both creatively and with record ratings. The ensemble drama starring Keri Russell achieved all-time sweeps records in all 18-34 demos including adults (2.9), and men (1.7) as well as men 18-49 (1.2 tie).

The other records are as follows: 7TH HEAVEN scored its best-ever sweeps rating in women 18-34 (5.0) and had its best-ever November in adults 18-34 (3.4), women 18-34 (5.0), men 18-34 (1.9), persons 12-34 (4.5), women 12-34 (6.3), adults 18-49 (3.5), women 18-49 (4.8). men 18-49 (3.3) and households (6.0); BUFFY achieved its best-ever sweep in adults 18-34 (3.4), women 18-34 (3.8), men 18-34 (3.0), women 18-49 (3.0) and men 18-49 (2.3); ANGEL had its best sweep in all 18-34 adults (3.1), women (3.5), men (2.8) and 18-49 demos adults (2.5), women (3.0) and men (2.1); CHARMED set new sweeps standards in women 18-34 (3.9), adults 18-49 (2.7), women 18-49 (3.4) and men 18-49 (1.9) and ROSWELL’s sweeps bests were set in adults 18-34 (2.0), men 18-34 (1.2), adults 18-49 (1.9), women 18-49 (2.5) and men 18-49 (1.3).
