Zeta-Jones, Roberts ‘Most Beautiful’
Raven-haired star Catherine Zeta-Jones, who is described as having “a glamour that transcends time,” graces the cover of People magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful” issue, which hits newsstands Friday.
More familiar faces are inside, as pretty woman Julia Roberts makes her sixth “Most Beautiful” appearance, while Halle Berry and one-time “Sexiest Man Alive” George Clooney show up for the fifth and fourth time, respectively.
Jennifer Lopez, who just unveiled a line of clothing suited for curvaceous figures such as hers, clearly appreciates her own curves. Says her New York-based personal trainer, “She thanks God that he made her the way she is.” Model Heidi Klum also expresses satisfaction with her own “woman hips.”
Director Bryan Singer explains X-Men star Hugh Jackman’s appeal by saying, “People crave leading men, not leading boys.” And speaking of boys, baby-faced ER star Noah Wyle is finally losing those “boyish” references, says his wife. Adds an ER makeup artist, “Noah personifies what women want when they go into the doctor’s office.”
Meanwhile, Johnny Depp’s looks transcend gender altogether, says his Chocolat co-star Leslie Caron. “He’s almost pretty, like a girl,” the French actress says.
Benicio Del Toro’s Traffic co-star Marisol Padilla Sanchez compares the Oscar winner to “a panther or lion — you can’t help but feel the strength of his sensuality.”
Also making the beauty cut are Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon stars Chow Yun-Fat and Zhang Ziyi, Save the Last Dance’s Julia Stiles, and The West Wing’s Dulé Hill.
Athletes include new Texas Rangers shortstop Alex Rodriguez, who just ditched the Seattle Mariners for a $252 million contract that makes him the highest-paid player in baseball, and Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant.
In an online poll, users voted Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s James Marsters, who plays punk vampire Spike, as their favorite, followed closely by rocker Jon Bon Jovi, ER’s girl couple Elizabeth Mitchell and Laura Innes, and Roswell stars Majandra Delfino and Jason Behr.
