George Miller has completed his script for MAD MAX 4, eyeing Roswell’s Brendan Fehr for the lead
At the recent Australian Film Institute awards, Mad Max director George Miller confirmed that he has completed his final draft screenplay for the fourth film in the post-apocalyptic series, which previously starred Mel Gibson as former police officer Max Rockatansky.
Reporting that he was pleased with his final draft, Miller revealed that casting was “in process.” Miller initially refused to be drawn on the possibility of Gibson returning, or reported plans to introduce a new character playing Max’s son. However, reports suggest Miller later confided that he hopes Gibson will return in a supporting part, but that Canadian-born actor Brendan Fehr is currently his favoured choice to lead the film. Best known for his role as alien Michael Guerin in UPN series Roswell, Fehr’s film roles include Final Destination and The Forsaken.
In a break from previous films Mad Max, The Road Warrior, and Beyond Thunderdome, the new production will not be filmed in Miller’s native Australia.
Developed by Kennedy/Miller, the Universal Pictures feature will enter production next year.
