“Law & Order” Puts NBC Ahead Of Competition

LOS ANGELES (UltimateTV.com) – Overnight Metered Market Ratings for Wednesday, March 8, 2000.

NBC placed first for the night (Wednesday March 8) thanks to “Law & Order,” bringing the peacock a 10.4 rating/16 share (last week, 9.6/15) for the night. CBS took second with an 8.0/12 (7.8/12) aided by its Wednesday movie, “First Wives Club.” ABC fell third in line, averaging a 7.9/12 (13.1/20), fueled mainly by “The Drew Carey Show.” FOX pulled up in fourth with a 5.3/8 (6.4/9), getting some help from “Beverly Hills, 90210.” UPN placed fifth with a 3.6/5 (3.2/5) and the WB took sixth with a 3.1/5 (4.1/6).

NBC started off the night with “Dateline,” nabbing a solid 9.9/16. At 9 p.m., a previously aired “West Wing,” starring Martin Sheen grabbed a 9.2/14. (last week, “The 10th Kingdom,” 7.8/11). Following the political drama was the top performer of the night–an encore “Law & Order”–which grabbed a solid 12.0/20 (13.3/21) at 10 p.m.

CBS started with the inner city hospital drama, “City of Angels, which grabbed a 5.9/9 (5.8/9) at 8 p.m. It was followed by the CBS Wednesday movie, ” First Wives Club,” starring Goldie Hawn averaged a 9.0/14 between 9-11 p.m. It peaked at 10 p.m. with a 9.5/15 (last week, ” Perfect Town, Perfect Murder,” 9.3/14).

ABC led off the night with ” Two Guys and a Girl,” taking an 8.0/13 at 8 p.m. ” Norm” followed at 8:30 with a 6.8/11 (last week, ” Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” 19.9/30). Next came an encore ” The Drew Carey Show,” scoring a 9.1/14 (12.1/18). At 9:30, ” Spin City” walked with an 8.3/12 (last week, ” Norm,” 9.1/13). And rounding out the evening, ” 20/20″ garnered an 7.8/13 (8.9/14).

FOX started the night with ” Beverly Hills, 90210,” nabbing a 6.2/10 (5.6/8) at 8 p.m. It was followed by the return of ” Get Real,” which was only able to pull in a 4.4/7 (last week, ” Greed,” 7.3/11).

UPN filled the primetime hours with ” 7 Days,” pulling in a 3.3/5 (2.7/4). ” Star Trek Voyager” followed at 9 p.m., capturing a 4.3/7 (4.5/7).

The WB began the night with an encore ” Dawson’s Creek,” taking a 3.2/5 (4.6/7) at 8 p.m. It was followed by a previously aired ” Roswell,” which grabbed a 3.1/5 (3.9/6).”
