Syfy Renewed “Defiance”

On April 15th, “Defiance” premiered in the US. The new Syfy show with Julie Benz, Jaime Murray, Grant Bowler and Dewshane Williams is set in the near future where humans and aliens must learn to live together on an exotic new Earth that has been transformed by alien terra-forming machines.

On May 10th, Syfy renewed the series giving a 13-episode second season order.

According to the official press release, the premiere was the second largest series premiere in the network’s history among adults 18-49, making it the biggest in nearly nine years in that coveted demographic, based on Live +7 Data.

Julie Benz plays Amanda Rosewater, the idealistic mayor of Defiance who is committed to maintaining peace in a deadly new world.
