“I grew up watching The Wonder Years, completely falling in love with Kevin Arnold and Winnie Cooper,” wrote Shiri Appleby in a description of her latest Instagram post on September 9, 2021.
The photo shows her backstage on the set of ABC’s “The Wonder Years”. She continues “To say I’m thrilled to be directing the new series would be an understatement. Can’t wait to get these cameras rolling! #directing”
The new version of “The Wonder Years“ focuses on a Black family in 1968 Montgomery, Alabama. The series premieres September 22, 2021 and focuses on a Black family in 1968 Montgomery, Alabama. Fred Savage, who played Kevin Arnold in the original show is working in the role of the show’s director and executive producer.
You can watch “The Wonder Years” on Wednesdays on ABC or stream on Hulu after it airs. At this point we haven’t heard which episode Shiri worked on.
Fans reacted with lots of cheer and congratulations. They were joined by friends, co-stars and colleagues.

Actress Heather Hemmens, who plays Maria DeLuca in the Roswell re-imagining, sent her some cheering emoji’s and wrote “Shiriiiiiiiiiiiii! So amazing” The CW actress took the chance to shadow Shiri’s latest directing gig on the alien show and went behind the camera for the season three episode “Goodnight Elizabeth“ herself.
Queens actress Nadine Velazquez recently worked with Shiri. She replied to her post ”Ok ok ok girl! Just hopping from one set to anotha huh!!!?”. In August, Shiri shared a photo from the set of ABC’s upcoming show “Queens”, which is going to premiere on October 19, 2021. It’s not known which episode is directed by Shiri.
