Invasion Cancellation?
Written by: Sarah G., Reporter – Posted on: Thu Aug 17th, 2000In the season finale of the WB’s Roswell, many events that had taken place during the run of the show through out the year were finally explained. Viewers were thrilled to discover the secrets behind the extraterrestrial teens, but just as the final episode left viewers with still many unanswered questions about the fates of the main characters, faithful fans were also left with one burning unanswered question: Would the show’s contract be renewed next year? Not only did the fans not know the answer, but neither did the cast and crew of Roswell.
Starring Jason Behr as Max, Katherine Heigl as Isabelle, and Brendan Fehr as Michael, the show centers around three descendants of alien survivors of the 1947 Roswell crash and follows the mystery that unfolds as the aliens confide their secret in three humans played by Shiri Appleby as Liz, Majandra Delfino as Maria, and Colin Hanks as Alex. From this plotline comes a show that is part sci-fi story, part teen drama, and part love story as two worlds collide.
It all sounded great on paper, and so the show, which was signed by the WB, became a staple to many, who watched faithfully every Wednesday night for updates on the plights of the teenage aliens as they come in contact with everything from other aliens to the U.S. government. Not only did the public love the show but so did the critics. The cast has held multiple interviews and has appeared in many magazines, including a recent cover for LIFE magazine.

The Voice Behind the Roswell Theme Song
Written by: Sarah J., Reporter – Posted on: Tue Sep 26th, 2000“Oh, I am what I am…I’ll do what I want, but I can’t hide…I won’t go, I won’t sleep, but I can’t breathe ’till you’re resting here with me, and I won’t leave, I can’t hide. I cannot be, till you’re resting here with me…”
Ever wonder who was behind the entrancing theme song from the show Roswell on the WB? I did, so I decided to do a little research and what I came up with was out of this world.
The vocalist behind the song titled “Here With Me” is Dido, a twenty-eight-year-old British woman who used to perform in a British group called Faithless. She also used to sing with the Westminster Abbey Choir when she was a child. Her relatively new solo album is called No Angel and is off the Arista record label. Her brother, Rollo, who was also in the band Faithless, co-wrote most of the album along with his sister. “Here With Me” sounds to me a little bit like Sarah McLachlan’s music, with a more Celtic-sounding twist. A few of the songs on the album are “Don’t Think of Me,” “Hunter,” “My Lover’s Gone,” “Honestly OK,” ” Isobel,” and “Here With Me.”
Dido’s amazing sound cannot only be attributed to her beautiful voice, but to the melodies and lyrics of her songs as well. The use and combination of instruments and other sounds on the album is stunning. Lyrics such as “I didn’t hear you leave…I wonder how am I still here? And I don’t want to move a thing, it might change my memory…” and “I don’t want to call my friends, for they might wake me from this dream,” are simple but emotional at the same time. Although Dido’s music has been called “pop,” she is open to other types of music as well. So open, in fact, that she makes an appearance in the track “Stan” on Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP.
It is very evident in “Here With Me,” and the rest of No Angel, that Dido has a firm grip on a style of music that is beautiful, but unfortunately rather uncommon in the popular music category in the 21st century.
