Thanks to Valerie for this :)
Well this is just great news, this movie has been a winner at almost every
single festival it has been shown at. This is just the latest awards it’s
won.
Horror fans unite to laud M.A.Galluzzo & R.S.V.P. at Screamfest 2002
snatching awards for Best Actor and Best Cinematography.Venice Beach, California 21 October 2002
After picking up rave reviews from the Hollywood press and Best of
Fest Award at the Malibu Film Festival in August, making an encore
appearance at the Palisades Film Festival, and jaunting down to the Heart of
Texas for the Austin Film Festival and Writers Conference, RSVP wrapped up
October with a two time victory at Horror Film Festival Screamfest last
night.Best Cinematography was accepted by Mark Anthony Galluzzo on behalf of
fellow cameramen Thom Stukas and Christian Grosselfinger. Whilst Best Actor
went to RSVP thesp Rick Otto whos performance as the psychopathic Nick
Collier was obviously frightening good .Fellow attendees of the genre fest included Horror Legends Wes Craven and
William Friedkin. The closing ceremony was covered by Sci-Fi Roadshow.
T
he West-Coast premiere of R.S.V.P. last month received much anticipation
with an advance review by LA Times film critic, Kevin Thomas, in which he
declared the Hitchcockian Black Comedy to be: Diabolically Clever!
and A matter of increasing suspense!Variety¹s Scott Foundas later raved about the outrageous spoof as An
experiment in unpleasantness! ; The most despicable cast of characters to
descend on Las Vegas since Peter Bergs Very Bad Things! The Boston Phoenixs Bill Rodriguez, who caught the film prior to its East
Coast Premiere at the Rhode Island Intl Film Fest the prior week agreed with
Foundas, lauding R.S.V.P. as a Splendid Send-Up! and went on to
exclaim Homage and Spoof do a Dance of Death! Straight out of Hitchcock.
Galluzzo does rightS dinging and tooting all the right filmic bells and
whistles! In addition to the victory, fans were treated to a personal appearance by
Galluzzo along with cast members Daniel Joseph and, believe it or not, a
shocking public appearance by Kevin Smiths cult icon sidekick Jay Mewes (of
Jay & Silent Bob fame) at the film¹s opening night. Rumors of whos
death by the Chicago Sun Times were quickly put to rest afterwards. An old-fashioned yet irreverent comedy romp, R.S.V.P. cleverly mixes
the spirit of Frank Capras Arsenic and Old Lace with Alfred Hitchcocks Rope.
Set in the heart of sin city itself, Las Vegas, Nevada, R.S.V.P.
follows a group of twenty-somethings on their last and we do mean last –
night of collegiate bliss. Co-Stars include, Majandra Delfino (Roswell,
Traffic), Reno Wilson (The Chronicle), Grace Zabriskie (Wild
at Heart, Trash), Jonathan Banks (Wiseguy, Trash), Glenn Quinn
(Angel), and breakout performances by New Yorker Daniel Joseph and
newcomer Nora Zehetner (Septuplets).Mark Anthonys other credits include his critically acclaimed feature debut
Trash, starring Jaime Pressly (Not Another Teen Movie, Jack &
Jill) and Jeremy Sisto (Jesus, Six Feet Under), which Kevin
Thomas of the LA Times declared, A potent coming-of-age drama set on the
wrong side of the tracks.Stayed tuned to www.rsvpthemovie.com
