Shiri Joins CBS’ “Code Black”
Shiri Appleby was a series regular in the finale season of “ER”, playing Dr. Daria Wade*. Now, she will be back on a medical drama: As a doctor and a patient.
Shiri has been cast in the new CBS medical drama “Code Black,” Variety has learned exclusively. She is going to guest star, but it is possible that she could appear in more episodes.
According to the official synopsis, Code Black is a heart-pounding medical drama that takes place in the busiest, most notorious ER in the nation, where the staggering influx of patients can outweigh the limited resources available to the extraordinary doctors and nurses whose job is to treat them all – creating a condition known as Code Black.
Marcia Gay Harden, Luis Guzman, Raza Jaffrey, Benjamin Hollingsworth and Bonnie Somerville are starring in the new show which is also executive produced by executive producer Marti Noxon – the co-creator and showrunner of Lifetime’s “UnReal”.
Shiri is set to play Dr. Carla Niven.
From Variety:
Dr. Niven is described as a hard charging, type-A ER doctor from another area hospital who trained at Code Black’s Angels Memorial, which is where her romance began with Dr. Pineda who was then a medical student. Now an ER resident at Angels, Dr. Pineda treats Dr. Niven, who is pregnant and shows up to the hospital for treatment for muscle pain that turns out to be a form of cancer. (In real life, Appleby is expecting her second child.)
“Code Black” premieres September 30th on CBS. Please read the full article on Variety.com:
