Shiri Directed Tonight’s Episode of “New Amsterdam” (April 20)
In February 2021 Shiri Appleby directed an episode for the medical drama “New Amsterdam” in New York City. Today, Shiri shared some amazing behind the scenes photos on her Instagram page and she wrote: “New Amsterdam tonight directed by me (!!!). I had the best time with this cast and sure hope you’ll check it out. Thank you again @michael_slovis @picocreek #davidshulner for the awesome opportunity. 🎥 #damfam #directing”
The episode is titled “Catch” and it airs tonight, April 20, 2021, at 10/9c on NBC. The show is available for streaming the next day on Peacock TV, as well.
The cast of “New Amsterdam” includes Ryan Eggold, Janet Montgomery, Freema Agyeman and Jocko Sims, with Tyler Labine and Anupam Kher. Actor Ryan Eggold, who plays Dr. Max Goodwin, shared some more photos from the production.
He also praised Shiri’s work and wrote about the good time working with her:
“Tonight’s @nbcnewamsterdam was directed by @shiriappleby seen here wearing nine layers of protection near my naked face. Something most people do and have done since even before the pandemic… I guess I just have one of those faces… 🤓 Shiri is an amazing actor and a TERRIFIC young director and I think this was the only time we actually looked at the script… most of the time we were cracking jokes and talkin life… can’t wait for you to see her beautiful work! I’m lookin’ forward to it myself 💛
See you tonight #DamFam ✌️🤘”
The series is inspired by Dr. Eric Manheimer’s memoir “Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital” and his 15 years as medical director at the hospital. While the third season premiered last month, the future of “New Amsterdam” looks bright already. NBC handed an early renewal to the show in January last year, when they announced a renewal for three years already through the 2022-23 season.
