I’m lurking on the new WB Press Site seeing all the info they have-they have some awesome new pics of the cast! But I found this press release from October talking about the show’s debut…

“ROSWELL” DEBUTS TO OUT OF THIS WORLD NUMBERS

BURBANK, CA (October 7, 1999) The WB Drama Comes Within Striking Distance of NBC’s “West Wing” In All 18-34 Adult Demos And Beats It In Target 12-34 Demos
New Program Scores Time Period Victories In Los Angeles, Dallas, Orlando and San Diego

“Roswell” debuted to out-of-this-world numbers on The WB at 9:00 p.m., racking up a 4.9/8 HH rating/share to rank as The WB’s second highest debut ever. (The WB’s best series debut was “Charmed,” which earned a 5.2/8 HH rating/share). Impressively, “Roswell” built +14% in rating over its “Dawson’s Creek” lead-in, and secured outstanding growth versus its lead-in across the adult, women and men demos. “Roswell” ranked 3rd in its time period among women 18-34 (4.6/14) and adults 18-34 (3.7/11), defeating CBS, FOX and UPN, and was 2nd among Persons 12-34 (4.3/14).

“Roswell” was extremely competitive with NBC’s “West Wing” across many of the key demos, coming close to the political program in share among adults 18-34 (11 vs. 13), women 18-34 (14 vs. 17), men 18-34 (9 vs. 10) and beating the NBC drama in Persons 12-34 (14 vs. 12).

The “Roswell” debut results, coupled with those last night of “Angel,” gives The WB two new programs this season that achieved higher adult demo ratings ‘s Creek, 7th Heaven, Charmed,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and “Felicity.” “Roswell” also scored time period victories in Los Angeles, Dallas, Orlando and San Diego.

The WB’s new program ranked 1st in its time slot among teens 12-17 (6.2/22) and female teens (7.8/29). The debut of “Roswell” also compares extremely well to the debut of The WB’s signature program, “Dawson’s Creek.” As a basis of comparison, “Roswell” delivered substantially higher demographic numbers across the board than the “Dawson’s Creek” debut on Tuesday, January 20, 1998 improving +23% in rating among adults 18-34 (3.7/11 vs. 3.0/8), gaining +15% in rating among adults 18-49 (3.0/8 vs. 2.6/6), increasing +24% among women 18-34 (4.6/14 vs. 3.7/9) and building +12% among women 18-49 (3.7/10 vs. 3.3/8).

“Dawson’s Creek” achieved a strong 4.3/7 HH rating/share at 8:00 p.m., and was extremely competitive versus the other networks in key demos. “Dawson’s Creek” ranked 2nd in the time period among adults 18-34 (3.5/12), building +9% in rating over last weeks premiere episode and tied with NBC for 2nd in the time slot among women 18-34 (4.4/14). The program finished 2nd from 8:00-9:00 p.m. among Persons 12-34 (4.4/15), leading NBC, CBS, FOX and UPN, and was 3rd among men 18-34 (2.7/10). Dawsons Creek continues to be huge among female teens, ranking 1st for the night with a 10.5/38, and was also the 1st network program on Wednesday among teens 12-17 (6.7/24).
