Lily Cowles Talks About Jason and Shiri
Jason Behr has a recurring role on Roswell, New Mexico’s second season. He first appeared in episode three “Good Mother” on March 30, 2020 and he will be back in next weeks episode, which is super special for Roswellians: Shiri Appleby directed!
Lead actress Lily Cowles plays Isobel Evans-Bracken in The CW’s reimagining. She told EW about their tradition of going out for karaoke on Saturday nights and Jason Behr joined them one time, “I had just recently bought this totally absurd floor-length fur vest, and he put it on and looked like Jon Snow, but sleeker. I was just like, ‘Is this real life?’ I just wanted to tell my 12-year-old self, ‘Girl, wait until I tell you what is going to happen!’”

I’m assuming you won’t have any scenes with Jason Behr since he exists in flashbacks, but how was just having the O.G. Max on set?
Such a dream. First of all, I was a huge Roswell original fanatic. I was obsessed with it. The first time I saw him was at craft services. It was lunchtime and I’m like stuffing my pockets full of all my snacks and I like look up, and it was like an angel had fallen to the earth and there he was. I don’t get star-struck, but I was so awkward. I was like, “It’s you!” You could tell the poor man has had to deal with this like a lot. He’s like, “Yes, it’s me. I know that I’m the hero of your dreams.” It was embarrassing, but having him around was amazing. He’s been such a huge champion of the show. We have a tradition of going out for karaoke on Saturday nights, and he came out one time. I had just recently bought this totally absurd floor-length fur vest, and he put it on and looked like Jon Snow, but sleeker. I was just like, “Is this real life?” I just wanted to tell my 12-year-old self, “Girl, wait until I tell you what is going to happen!”

It’s also very cool that this re-imagining of this has been able to include some of the original cast, with Shiri Appleby directing and Jason Behr now guest starring on Season 2. What’s it meant to the cast to see how the original cast is supporting the series, and what’s it been like to have them around, on set?
COWLES: We’re so lucky to have Shiri and Jason supporting us and wanting to be part of our show. When you make an adaptation of an original, of course, you want to do justice and you wanna feel that the people who made the original are supportive of what you’re doing. It means the world to us that they’re both so excited to be a part of it and to work on it. It boosts our morale so much to see them and to feel like we’re a part of this larger legacy of a story that’s being told across generations. They’re so professional and so funny, and they bring their ow flavor of the original, that was so specific and good, with that tone that they had. They bring that into our show, and it’s so wonderful to be able to infuse what we’re making with that OG flavor. It feels really good. They’re both the most gracious, warm, friendly and hysterical people. I have a huge crush on both of them. If I got to out with one, it would be very difficult for me to choose. And that’s saying a lot because Jason Behr is everything that I thought was good and true, as a 12-year-old. But Shiri, man, is something else.
